crw32.exe has generated errors and will be closed

I am using CR 10 and SQl 2000. I have installed CR 10 and when I try to open up one of the sample reports that are included with the software I get this error message: "crw32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows"

I have already: (1) rebooted the machine; (2) Tried to repair CR 10; (3) unistalled CR 10 and reinstalled it. Nothing seems to help. I still can't open a report. I can open the program itself, just not any report. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

What OS are you using?

It certainly sounds like a bad install, or a bad report, make sure that you test several reports.

Or perhaps you have too little memory, etc.

Generally the nasioc sample reports are based on MS Access, so they should work fine in almost any environment.

Hi,
One thing to try..

Create a NEW desktop shortcut to CRW32.exe and be sure it has a 'start in' specifying the same directory as the exe file..

I have exactly the same problem. It happended today 6/29/06 and yesterday - CR was working fine!

Did you resolve the problem? If you did, could you post the solution? Thank you!

VB4, CR3, XPSP2, Romania, married ( ), ...
Yours pls?

Problem description:
VB write OK memos in .mdb. CR open report OK but when Preview .. show OK after that is "working something" a 1-2 seconds and Error.

Solution:
No solution yet..
Possible virus .. (World problem!)

XPSP2; CR10 report => SQL Server Store Procedures.
Did not even use VB.
Open CR report directly in CR10.

What I did so far:
Same as PleasHelp: 1) rebooted the machine; (2) Tried to repair CR 10; (3) unistalled CR 10 and reinstalled

And I erased all prior versions of CR.
Did not change anything in Registry yet.

What's really frustrating is that it worked one day and next day - bang!

I could not even create any NEW reports. When I do that, CR will allow the data connection selection process all the way til I clicked on Finish - then the error message appears!

Same problem.

Note: my computer is freqvently atacked (Romania) by Helkern virus (from many different IP's)..

Kaspersky is doing his job! But surprise!!! Antivirus disconected. Please restart antivirus to ... !!!!!

And CR is not working... ...!
