crw32.exe Application Error

I am experiencing an error "the instruction at "0x73dd11c7" referenced memory at "0x000000004". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate.

This occurs when I try and add a sub report to a report.

I see several mentions of this error on the web, but no solution - any ides?

I am using version 8.5 and running it on XP pro.

Is this an existing report, or are you trying to create a new one?

One trick that minimizes errors is to right click on the EXE file and select properties and change the compatability to Windows 2000.

I would also apply the latest service pack:

Thanks - I downloaded & installed the latest update and set compatability to W2000. No change.

I am opening an existing report and then trying to add a sub report which is also an existing report. Once I select the sub report and select Ok I get the error.

Also it seems to have just started, i am sure I have done this type of thing before, maybe a reinstall?

No, I'd be suspicious of the subreport.

Can you open and run the subreport by itself?

What database/connectivity is it using?

Thanks ro the help last week. I eventually recreated the sub report and the problem went away.
