CrossTab Report and Details Not Reconciling

On the recommendation of a forum member, I'm using a "running total" and then suppressing data in the detail section (X2+pencil) to limit display of instrument names and corresponding quantities to the first two cases and only the first two cases in an operating room. This is working fine. My running totals reset (as I want them to, when there is a change in name of the OR - and that is working fine

Example:
OR1 9am, instrument tray A, qty 1, running total 1
OR1 10am, instrument tray A, qty 1, running total 2
OR1 11am, instrument tray A, qty 1, running total 3

I am not seeing running total 3 in the detail section, and I don't need to see it.

Then, I am trying to do a crosstab report, to show the quantities associated with all instrument trays (for the first two cases only) and I get a total of 3 in the cross tab section for "instrument tray A". I want a quantity of 2.

Is there a way to suppress the cross tab data so that it only reports on the first two cases in a room - similar to what is shown in the detail section.

Using Crystal Reports 10.

Assuming you have a group inserted on {table.datetime} (daily) and a second group on {table.OR}, use a formula like the following for your summary field in the crosstab, with OR as your row:

if {table.ORdatetime} in [nthsmallest(1,{table.ORdatetime}, {table.OR}),nthsmallest(2,{table.ORdatetime},{table.OR})] then {table.qty}
