I have an imported an excel into a table that looks like this.
e.g
Name | Class | Result

Bob | Art | 4
Bob | Math | 3
Jim | Art | 3
Jim | Math | 2
Jim | Eng | 2
Jack | Math | 1
Jack | Eng | 2
Jack | Geog | 2

I would like to create a crosstab query
to show me the results under the class name like this

Name | Art | Math | Eng | Geog
Bob | 4 | 3 | |
Jim | 3 | 2 | 2 |
Jack | | 1 | 2 | 2

I just want to display the pupils results
next to their name, but when I try to create a crosstab query, it keeps changing the results, adding them up or somthing strange.

Can anyone help me,

Within the query setup screen. What is displayed under the Result Field. is this set up as count or something else? This may distort from what you expect. If it is sum, then this should not change anything unless you have more than one entry for a pupil against a class, in which case this would um these up.

I can only speculate wihtout seeing the data.

Thanks

Could I send you an example of the file to look at,
I don't want to take up too much of your time,
but I am not expert on Access.

Ok, i`m running '97 here so you will need to adjust the database so I can open it if your using Access 2000.

Send it to:

and I`ll have a look for you.
