Hello All:

I'm getting lot of doubts in creating images. I need to create a ring (hollow circle ) with thick border.
How to implement it.

Thanks a lot.

There a few ways to do this but I like to use the marquee tool.

Set a grid so you have something to use as a center point.

You are going to make 2 rings, one slightly smaller than the other and in a diff color. This will give the appearance of a think border.

Select black as the color. Change to what you want later and put both rings on different layers.

Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool, click the center of what will eventually be your ring. Hold down the Shift-Alt (shift key and Alt key at the same time). This allows you to drag using your mouse the circle smaller or larger by moving the mouse.

Drag the circle so it will be in the middle (centerline) of the ring that will be drawn, use approximately 50 pixels in diameter for this example. Then in toolbar select Edit > Stroke and choose the dimension of the ring, use 15 pixels for this example.

Leaving everything the way it is create a new layer and a new color, yellow for example.

Now go to the toolbar select Edit > Stroke and choose the dimension of the ring, use 10 pixels.

What you did was make a small yellow ring on top of a larger black ring.

Now add effects and it will look sweet!

Hope this helps!
