I have a barcode scanner (dos) application that uses dBase files with NTX indexes (indices?). The scanner does not provide a way to create the index files and so they have to be done on a PC. Currently we have a dos utility (called dbdiag) for doing this but (as far as I'm aware) you can't run dos apps in windows 2000.

We can create the dbf files using excel but how can we create the NTX file in windows 2000?

We have access to MSAccess and Visual Basic if that helps.

TIA

The DOS app should work just ok, except if you get the infamous R6003 error, wich means the hardware is too fast for the (old) software. This is not related to Win2000 but to processorspeed. If you have the sourcecode (or obj files) for dbdiag available, a simple re-link of the exe including (adding) a fix-obj (search this forum on 'R6003' for locations) will solve that problem.

If the app runs fine, only the execution-speed could be slow, but that shouldn't matter.
