Hi all.

I need to create a link to a named range in an excle workbook from within another application.

Any suggestions...?

I'd like the link to be live (people can update the workbook) but a static link would be OK.

Discover how you create link in your another application, and try something like this as target:
"\path\to\workbook.xls#YourNamedRange"

Hope This Help, PH.

Hi PHV

Sorry if I was a little vague. Here's the conundrum:

I'm using Visio 2000 and need to embed an Excel file.

I've tried the File | Insert options and even though the MSDN help files tell you this is how to insert a named range, it doesn't seem to want to link the entire named range.

I was hoping VBA could help out on this. If you have time I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Harlequin007,

I'm not familiar with Visio's OLE support, but you might try copying the area you want from Excel and using Edit|Paste Special and selecting the 'Excel object' option if there is one plus, if it's supported, a 'Paste link' option (which may only give you an 'Excel object' data type anyway).

Cheers

Thanks Macro, tried that mate.

I seem to have tried every conceivable menu option available. This is why I am resorting to VB.
