How do I create/type the Euro symbol (i.e. the capital "E" with the two lines running through it). We are running XP SP2 one computer has Home, the other Pro.

Pro.

Not too sure how to type it...always wondered that myself!

if ever I need to use it i just use Start > Accessories > System Tools > Characeter Map

You can then copy & paste the Euro sign.

Hold down the ALT key (to the left of the spacebar) and type 0128 on the numeric keypad then release the ALT key.

Hope this helps...

Crtl & Alt & 4

Stu, thank you and Cyber for quick replies.

Unfortunately, the--Ctrl & Alt & 4--doesn't work on my keyboard. Plus I don't think we have "Gr" on our (U.S.) keyboards.

"Two great nations divided by a common language and different keyboards." [rainbow]

The Alt-0128 works great.

Stu's reply deserved a star from cyberspace... his tip was new to me as well.

I'm pleased that using 'Alt+0128' worked for you... but a little surprised that US keyboards don't have an 'Alt Gr' key. What key DO you have to the right of the spacebar?

My keyboard:

I have a rather fancy ergometric Microsoft keyboard. To the right of the spacebar are four keys:

Alt
2 keys that relate to Windows
Ctrl.

The Alt and Ctrl keys would be on the right of all or at least most U.S. keyboards. The two Windows-related keys are there on most NEW keyboards, but not on older ones.

Truly sorry to see that you've lost both the Empire and any chance at all to be on the cutting edge of history.

Yeah... me too. I was planning on giving you what remains of the British Empire to make up for the lack of an 'Alt GR' (Alternate Graphics?) key. Sorry about that.... bummer, hey? <ROFL>

I knew there was a good reason we don't have the euro, it's just far too many buttons to press....

Merry non denominational winter festival!!!

biglebowski,

Get used to the 'Euro'... it's the way of the future, apparently (so my mate Tony Blair tells me).

(OK... I'm not exactly a 'mate' of Tony Blair.)

I have to admit though that, once my partner and I had adjusted to it (i.e. the 'Euro'), a single common currency within Europe DID actually made it much, much easier during our recent pan-European ramblings.
