If I have a abc.local internal domain and my public facing domain is abc.com, is there any caveat/issue with removing the accepted domain of abc.local out of Exchange if I make the abc.com one the default?

Choices are to use the equivalent of the RUS to change it or just change it on the connector as a default FQDN. Might be easier.

My question is not based on how to do it, but more particularly, if there is any known caveats for killing the .local that will be the default domain as our internal AD domain is a .local scheme. In 2003 I would have the RUS defined with both and just set the .com as the default. I know I can have the same in 2007, but saw a mentioning of going ahead and deleting the .local
Just want to get ideas if this is good or bad and any comments respectively.

Personally I'd leave it as .local and make the outward change on the SMTP connector.

I would do the same as Zelandakh, I have done this with our EX2007 set up and leaving the .local setting in but setting the .co.uk addrress as the smtp reply address and it works fine, I wouldn't risk anything that is not needed for a reason.
