Hey guys, just a quick question if what I want to do is feasible:
I have an option 61c at my property and in an effort to cut down on T-1 costs and long distance I was curious if there was a way that I could create the following..
Create a new access code (i.e. 8) that when used it select from a group of analog TNs I have available to dial out. So say I have 4-1-2-0 through 4-1-2-15 that are on an analog card, have the nortel setup to hunt that group to dial out.
So basically I hit 8,14045551212 it looks for an available analog line to jump off of gets a dialtone from one of these lines and passes the call off.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to use normal analog TNs to pass calls out of, since they are normally set up for station devices and not CO. (Can you make these TNs set so that they are ready to receive a dialtone and not generate one?)
2. Can the nortel Option 61 be configured to use a standard set of TNs to trunk calls out? Or do you need a special card?
I know what I'm doing sounds kinda ghetto, but I am going to be passing the calls off to an Asterisk PBX to trunk the call over SIP. Unfortunately this is the cheapest way I've found to keep both systems up and running during a transition phase. So don't laugh =)
