Creating a file with transparant background

I have an .AI of a logo for our organization, and I want to save it in a file that shows the transparant parts as transparant, and not a White box.

What format can I Save it in that will do that?

First make sure that you have the transparency as you want it by going to View menu/show transparency grid.

Assuming that the logo is all vectors (as most logos are) the most common format for sending it to others is eps with fonts changed to outlines. This preserves the transparency, all vector data and does not require the other person to have the particular font used.

Agggghhhhh Help

I have been trying to do the same thing by muddling through the help menu but I am really confused


I am trying to do the same thing and make the background of my logo transparent without a white box around it.

You mention that you should make the transparency how you want it by looking at View menu/transparency grid. I have done this and it shows there is a white box around my logo with no transparency. DO you know how I change this so that the transparency goes right up to the edge of my logo image without the white box around it?

First, I'm assuming you created all in AI and di not import anything from a raster app like photoshop.

If you're seeing any sort of box - stroked or filled - when shoeing the transparency grid, it would indicate that you have a fill or stroke applied to that box, in this case white. Select the box and take a look at the stroke and fill colors on the bottom of the tools pallette. They should be None - box with red line through it.

I'm assuming that this box you're seeing is either a text box or one that was created by grouping several objects.
