Hi,

I have connected my W2K Server to a hub, created a static ip and subnet address, pinged the server successfully. When I run the wizards to install DMS, AD and domain controller the installation fails with the error "the network location cannot be reached".

I have no idea what the problem is. Any ideas?

Thanks
Jon

typo in previous post "DMS" should have read "DNS".

Does anyone have any idea why the installation wizard would fail. Do I have to change any settings?

Thanks
Jon

Hi there,

Take a look at Q259567

Russell.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

Oops, sorry. I obviously didn't read that one past the first paragraph!

When setting up your server I assume it is always at a particular point when the error is generated? Are you being asked to direct it to another AD machine on the network and are there any other AD machines on the network?

The error occurs when running through the set up server wizard. It automaticaly configures the Network adapter and dns but the error occurs during installation of the active directory. This is a standalone server plugged into a hub
