i was trying to create a backup of my current flash by issuing the command

copy flash tftp

but instead i typed

copy flash ftfp

now when i do a "show flash" i am displayed with two flash files. one being correct, one being ftfp (and significantly smaller then the correct file)

how do i remove this extra flash file?

delete flash:ftfp

Depending on the platform you may need to squeeze the flash as well to free up the space.

i have enough space, that its not much of a problem. i am just worried that if the router reboots that maybe it will try and use this flash instead of the correct one. below is the result from a show flash:

System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 5358948 c1700-y-mz.122-15.T13
2 1110 ftpf
[5360188 bytes used, 27932100 available, 33292288 total]
32768K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

router model # cisco 1721

Type this command in the global configuration if you are worried about which file it will boot from.

boot system flash c1700-y-mz.122-15.T13

bf0x,

i tried your suggestion. then we had a power outage, and the when the router booted back up, it went into rommon.

i have to indicate the image to boot off of, and initialize the interfaces and assign the ip addresses before tftp'ing the config file back and finally getting the router running again.

i then did a reload, and again the router booted to rommon

any ideas why it is always going into rommon?
