I am looking to make my forms self sufficient. I plan to hide the Access window itself so all the user sees is the form when they enter my application, I found some code that will allow me to do this.

I want my forms to have the same familiar look and feel i.e. text menus with File Edit Help etc, that they are used to seeing in the Access window and other software. I want to customize them so that in the File menu they would see Exit application, or Return to Main menu etc. Is there a way to do this?

Right click on the menu bar and select customize. Then create and name your menu/toolbar. Then in the form, set the menu bar property to equal your custom menu bar.

FancyPrairie,
Thanks for your response. What you explained is correct providing I was going to keep the access window open when my application runs. When I say Access window I am refering to the surounding Access application itself not the database window where you can see the tables for the database. I appologize for not making that clearer. Perhaps it's not possible but what I am after is for the menus to appear as part of the form itself.

Thanks

Right. When you create a custom menu it will initially be displayed on the database window. Select View|Toolbars and uncheck it. Now it won't show up on the database window. However, if you set the "menu bar" property of the form equal to the name of the new custom menu you created, your new menu bar will appear when the form is initially opened.

Oh ok, thanks for your help. I'll try this and see how it works.
