Hello All,

I'm trying to send an outlook reminder via ASP, but am having some difficulty right from the get-go: I'm trying to find out what kind of software I need installed on my web server to enable it to be able to send a reminder.

I'm starting this thread as a continuation from a previous thread (thread333-365747) so that the discussion won't be too long.

Here's what I have:
[ul][li]Windows Server 2000[/li]
[li]IIS 5.0[/li]
[li]I use ASP/VBScript[/li]
[li](seperate server) Exchange Server in the same domain as web server[/li][/ul]

I have gathered from:
thread333-838675 that I may need to have outlook client installed.
thread333-365747 had some great info on how to code

Is all I need is to have Outlook (or perhaps a copy of MS Office 2k or xp) instsalled on the web server to make this work?

hi there all,

i am attempting to instantiate Microsoft Word from my ASP page (again using classic ASP, NOT .NET) and I also get the ActiveX error:

ActiveX component can't create object: 'Word.Application'

if anyone has any pointers on this error i would be most grateful.

if i add 'server.' before the 'createobject ("word.application") i get a different error:

Object Required: 'server'

i have office installed on this machine.

thanks

andrew

Andrew,

Are you using IE as your browser? If so go to internet options>security>custom level>...from here enable active x components. I had this problem with a spell checking script that required this change. Once changed the active x error went away and script worked great. Not sure if this related but relaying over what worked for me on a similar problem.

Hope it helps
