Hey all,

I have created a database on my machine using Toads New Database Wizard and can't figure out how to run the database. Any ideas?

The db name is - MYDB
I have Oracle 8i Personal edition running
My OS is win2000

Hi

Have you strated the database service. Look in Control Panel Administrative Tools Services. You should have an OracleServiceMYDB and it should be strated check the listener as well.

The db does not appear in Control Panel Administrative Tools Services.

Does T.O.A.D. actually create the database or does it just create scripts that you need to run to do the 'building'?

I think it just creates the scripts. I just had a look at it again and it is just creating scripts not the actual db. So where do I go from there??

Hi,
Review the scripts for info on how to run them- some will be batch files, I imagine, run from the command prompt while others may be SQL code...
If you are very new to Oracle, perhaps a bit of reading first.

Try for documentation and look into the administrator's guide and the concepts manual and
look at the release notes that came with the software..

Oracle ( even Personal Edition)is not very simple to properly configure...
