Create extension that leads to outside line?

I'm trying to get one thing accomplished. I just need someway for all the employees to be able to call me/transfer calls to my cell phone very easily. I've considered programming an external autodial button for every phone in the building that just simply calls me; though that is a fair amount of work when everyone is already using my extension for those kind of things.

My system is a Nortel Norstar - Modular ICS 4.0 (at least, according to the manual I've found, but I suppose it's possible they upgraded the system). So I basically want one of these options:

1) Redirect my telephone to my cell number (I can only redirect it to an internal line right now).

OR

2) Create an a new "extension" number that will automatically call my cell.

OR

3) Any other way to accomplish my goal. I suppose I could set up that autodial number for every phone, but it seems so much more complicated that a simple call forward/new extension.

Thanks for your help; I can figure just about anything out, but this has left me stumped mainly because I'm afraid to do it wrong and mess up the system beyond my knowledge.

You need release 4.1 or better to do an external transfer.

If that's the case, then I must have 4.1 or higher. Because I can hit the transfer button and transfer incoming calls to whomever I'd like, internal or external. Or did you specifically mean forwarding?

If that's the case you should only have to press transfer and the speed dial button.

Yes yes, I can do that. I get a call in, hit transfer and then press 9 and then hit the autodial button I set up and it works.

Which is great, but I can't set that up on the 50+ phones here each one manually.

So I was wondering there was a way to either forward my individual telephone (ext 701) to my cell phone automatically (so that anyone that dials my 701 number or transfers a call to 701 it will end up at my cell phone).

Or, perhaps setting a a brand new extension in the system that doesn't lead to my telephone here, but routes to my cell phone.

Are either of those possible or will I have to program that autodial button on every single phone?

Sorry, I didn't read your post correctly. It is possible that your extension is not allowed redirect. If you go to terminals & sets in programing, under capabilities, see allow redirect and change it to Yes. Then try F4 to forward 701 to your cell phone.

In your sets capibilities you need to make ALLOW REDIRECT to Y.
Then you can try pressing forward on your phone 9 and your cell number, thay then just transfer to you phone. If that dosen't work you are not using routing just pool codes and that needs to be removed and a route pointing at the pool of lines you use and a destination code of 9. than forwrding a set to an external number wil work.

Okay, I programmed the system to allow my extension to ALLOW REDIRECT. Which means I can effectively use F84 from my extension, but doing that, nor using F4 allows me to redirect to my cell phone.

Well, F84 lets me redirect a line to my cell phone, but I don't believe that's what I'm trying to accomplish here.

I'm guessing I have to do as cook1082 said and set up some kind of routing somehow?

Is that easier to do or is creating another extension (DN?) and telling that extension to route to my cell phone number easier?

Brilliant. Thank you. That worked perfectly.

The only caveat I can see from this method is that if someone was to dial out and then try to transfer that call to me, it would be denied. But I'm guessing in all other instances, this will work as if I'm right there in the office. Great :).
