I've heard that you can create duotone images directly in Quark, using a greyscale pic. Is it just by choosing one color for the image and a different color for the box -- or is there a different/better way of doing it?

Save the greyscale picture as a TIFF and then just Style then Colour in Quark... then change the background colour of the box

Job done

A WORD OF WARNING

I don't know whether this has changed recently...

If you do this - which is perfectly O.K. & quite sensible - make sure you change the screen angle of one of the colours... otherwisee they will clash when printing

Maybe someone knows to the contrary!?

Kind Regards
Duncan

Aha, I wouldn't have thought of that.... You're definately right about the screen angles. But if I use 2 process colors instead of spots, they should automatically be different.

I'm glad you know what i am 'on about'!

Actually i think both will adopt the black angle by default... have a go & check them

Please let me know what you find

Kind Regards

I did a test using Cyan and Yellow and when I go to output seps, the print dialog box shows 105 for cyan and 90 for yellow. If I use each of the process colors, they all have their own screen angles, so it looks to me like that's a good way to do it. Unless of course, you have a logo or something in there and you have to use a spot color, then you have to remember to change the screen angle! Thanks! I didn't realize it was that easy :)
