hello!
I was wondering:
Can you use ASP to create an Access database? If so, what code would you use?

Also, if you cannot create a database, can I copy an existing one to a new location, and then make a DSN of it using ASP? I am creating an online service that I hope will have alot of customers. I do not think it would be good for them all to share one database and have hundreds of tables in it. I know I should probably use SQL2000, but... one step at a time! I am small yet!

Thanks!

Evenin all,

MSDE (Microsoft [SQL] Desktop Engine) is the royalty free alternative to database solutions such as Jet, plus as dil suggests once it is coded up for an SQL environment it is easy to move to SQL server when performance demands it.

The biggest mistake I made was to complete a project with an access backend and have to re-code for MySQL, not a huge job but a pain in the @$$ non the less.

Theres a writeup on MSDE which will give you all you need in the following link.

and last but not least, happy new year to all
