Just dont know why this pops up every now and then. The SQL Server just wont let me connect to it from just one machine!

Here are the details that you guys might need.

1. VB6-SQL Server 7 (Client - Server) [windows] application
2. Time out in SQL Server set to 0
3. Error happens at opening the connection.
4. Windows 98 SE Client.
5. MDAC 2.7 Installed.
6. Computer is in the network.
7. Able to create mapped drives to the server from the client, with the current user logged in.
8. Program works fine from other workstations.
9. Uses windows authentication.

Any other ideas? All help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Sunil.

Could you be running out of SQL Server connection licenses?
If so, make sure your code is closing all unused connections.

Thanks Chip,

That is something that i am gonna check as soon as i am back at office tomorrow. But the software had very strict QA and Testing, so I would safely assume the connections are closed.

Also, what is the exact error you are getting? Could it be related to the logged on user? Have tried that machine logged in as someone else?

>>Program works fine from other workstations
Does this mean that you tried from another workstation with the same user?

BJD, The exact error is
"Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Timeout expired" and the long error number (starting with 2...).

I am not supposed to try and login the user from another machine though..

Does anybody think Windows 98 SE is the problem? Does he need anything like a Win2K or an XP?
