Crashes at certain website - Comcast.net

Hi,
I built a computer (system specs below) that crashes when accessing comcast.net. I thought that it was from Macromedia Flash but, it seems to also happen on the sign in page and I don't think that page has flash. Anyway, I went to macromedia and installed their latest version of flash and the computer still crashes (screen goes black and you need to hold power button down to shut it off). It will play POGO all day long without a hiccup. seems to access other pages ok as well. Yahoo.com MSN.com Google.Com. etc.

WindowsXP SP2 Home Edition, Norton Internet Security 2004, HP Printer Software,

Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M (mAtx) motherboard, Sempron 2800+ 32bit Processor, Kingston HyperX Ram, WD 120GB SATA Hard Drive, Lite-On CDRW,

Has anybody else ran into this problem? Any suggestions? Any other info needed?

I also use comcast with success so this is not an insurmountable glitch.

Are you using IE? what Ver?

Comcast does require a set of ActiveX stuff to load & display correctly. Check your settings, AV, firewall etc & possibly disable just to get these loaded or to allow content from comcast through.

You could also try FireFox as a browser to determine if this will allow connecting correctly and you might like it.

Post back with progress please.

Have you tried cleaning out your Temporary Internet Files folder and other Temp folders? You may also like to look at the possibility of a corrupt Index.dat file (just a guess).

As another user with administrator rights, delete your own username's Temporary Internet Files folder, and reboot and logon to allow Windows to recreate them.

Have you contacted Comcast Help and Support?

Does it crash if you temporarily disable Norton Internet Security 2004?

Do you have any clues coming from your Event Viewer?

So you can get a more stable and configurable brouser to test such glitches on...

hunter i used to have a problem like that with a computer I built. Check your ram compatibility with the motherboard. I mean make sure the brand and model number is listed as compatible with the board. For even though say a board takes pc3200 ram and you have that on there that does not mean its compatible as I learned the hard way.
