I have a CR 9 report distributed through CE 9 that has several fields formatted so that when the user clicks on a field it opens up a blank e-mail form with an address in the To: field. My question is what will happen if a user tries to do this on a machine that is connected to our WAN but does not have an e-mail program installed on it? Will the user just get an error meassage that they can click out of? Or something worse? (As usual, I have to support as well as develop this project and it pains me to see the message light blinking on my phone the morning after I distribute something.)

Unfortunately, although I do know that we have machines like this connected to our network, I am not sure where they are (could be anywhere in the US) or how many there are and I do not have access to a machine without e-mail to test on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't recall if CE 9 handles email differently than CE 8.5, but CE 8.5 doesn't use a local email client, the email is processed by the CE server, not locally.

Does "that has several fields formatted so that when the user clicks on a field it opens up a blank e-mail form with an address in the To: field" mean that you have a custom CSP page or some form of code to capture information, or???

In the format editor, under the hyperlink tab, I selected "An E-mail address" and then used the formula editor to create the formula "mailto:" & {Data.eName} where eName is a field in my database that contains e-mail addresses. This fills in the To: field in the e-mail

Thanks for you help.
