Have been working in CR 10 and just recently gained access to CE10 and the Repository function. Created a Command Object (with parms) in a report to replace direct 'calls' to the underlying db. Along with the Command Object, in Data Expert, I have two additional tables which link to the Command.

I wanted to place the Command in the Repository. According to BO, all I need do is right-click on the Command in Data Expert and a context menu gives me the option... not.

I get a context menu, but only Rename, Properties, and Cancel...

How do I set the Command into the Repository? Why is the contrext menu different from what I was told to expect? Is it because of the link between the Command and the two additional tables?

Hi, Have you configured a Repository database?

I think it needs to exist before Crystal provides the options to use it..( Haven't worked much in 10 yet, so may well be wrong)

Yep... there's stuff out there so I assume it's been properly configured.

I can't speak for CE10 but on CR9 if you want to modify an existing command in the repository, bring up the Database Expert. Right-click on command on the Selected table area and you need to disconnect from repository first in order to modify.

To add a new command in the repository, select the database in the Database Expert and click on ADD Command. Paste your sql in the window and check the Add to Repository checkbox.

Make sure that you're machine is pointed to the right repository. Check your orMap.ini. You probably will need have a DSN on your machine to connect to your centralized repository.

I came across your post while trying to undo my mistake of not checking which repository i'm pointed to. The commands that I created got stored in the sample repository that came with CR and thus making it useless for everyone else.

Hope this helped.

Thanks... it seems to be working!
