cpu testing dilema

I have several dozen cpu's I need to test. I've tested a few but it seems as though I run into difficulty after trying just a few. I can test 5 or 6 and then my mobo won't seem to fire any more up. I've tried other mobo's but the same thing happens. I can't afford to buy 20 different mobo's to get all these tested. I clear the bios and it doesn't help. I double check all the bus speeds and try some that are not the norm for the said proc. Sometimes after a few won't fire I can go back to the ones that did and some will fire up and some won't. I especially get this problem when I go from amd thoroughbred a's to the b's it seems. Is there an intricacy about these I'm not aware of? All these procs are amd's from 800mhz to 2800+. Some are durons, some are palamino's, some are thoroughbreds, a and b's, some are barton's. It is a wide variety of proc's. Does any one know of a mobo that is versital enough to auto detect all these or at least most of the 1300 to 2800 procs? Ive used foxconn, syntax, and ecs boards so far but I've noticed thay all the overclockers tend to use asus boards, is this my problem? Any info would be of great help! thanks lmwtech

Heres a trick i have learned.
Remove main power cord from back of case to wall, make sure the power switch on the back of the power supply is in the on position.
Now press and hold the main power-on button at the front of the case for at least one minute. Let it go after a minute and then switch the switch on back of power supply to "off" and reconnect the main power cord to the back of the case, turn the same switch at the back to "on" The computer may seem like its powering on and stop, that is normal and will stop.
Now quickly press and let go of the front main power-on button as you normally do.
This will re-set the power supply and you can continue. You will have to do this after so many cpu's as there is no permanent fix i know of for this problem.

I have been doing this because I new of this trick already. It really seems as though its anissue with different procs and the boards I'm using. Thats why I'd like to know what others do in this situation.

Give a list of the boards you're using to test with. I would assume that any modern board with 100-200Mhz fsb settings would do the job. I don't have a spitfire core Duron but my MSI KT4V will run a Duron1000, Duron1300, 1800+Palomino, 2400+Tbred b, and a 2800+ barton.

How extensive is the cpu testing you do?

I also assumed that any modern board would also work but it doesn't seem so. I have used boards that are jumpered for different bus speeds and some that should auto detect and niether seem to work. All I want to do is see if these procs will work. I can here the system go thru several of the post checks with most devioces but they just won't fully boot. I'm using foxconn 600 series 600a01-6lrs, a syntax k7sv266ad,pcchips m810lr,and ecs k7sem mobo's. I just want to know if these procs work or not. I got about 200 of them mostly 1700 2100 2200 & 2400 amd's.

I've used foxconn, syntax, ecs, and pcchips boards. some old some new and at all different fsb settings. Out of two hundred cpu's I can get only 12 to fire up and that is all I expected to be bad in this lot. Any suggestions?

You can re-set the bios, that will surely help with quite a few of them. Look up the mobo's manual as the re-set routine varies. I noticed you have pc chips mobos and they dont have a standard re-set routine, so you should look them all up for each mobo you have to use.
