I have a new gateway laptop and think it runs too hot... I dont think the fans run as they should and would like to know if theres a reliable app (freeware preferably) that will allow me to monitor the temperature of the processor (P4M 2.8 Ghz, 504mb ram)

-- Thanks for your help here.

I use both the two apps that franklin97355 mentioned. If you install MBM5 first, Coolmon can use the temperature monitors (it will use up a .dll file from MBM). You can then have the temperatures displayed permanently on your desktop.

You can also set your BIOS to give a warning at a certain temperature if you are concerned.

Thanks for the reply.

I have both running now, but Cool Mon is just showing 255 as the temperature - it doesnt change... and the fan indicators dont show anything...

I see an area where it looks like I need to specify my hardware (manufacturer of the board, etc. - what if I dont know that info? Im running a P4-M Gateway 350X notebook with two fans....

I like the cool mon app ... nice effort and very customizable - I'm adding it to a cluster of servers I manage here at my office.

Thanks again.
