I read this on another web site. It makes no sense to me how, lack of a chunk of metal on your cpu, for a few seconds, will cause it to fry... it just doesn't seem logical to me

I swapped CPU's with another computer to see if it would boot with my working CPU. I don't remember if I put the HS/Fan on it or not, but I don't think I did on the one I put in my comp. But neither computer would POST. So I switched the CPU's back, attached the Heatsink/Fans.
