i can login and look at the listing of names , once i click on a name to change/ view details-get a popup message
"remote RPC connection with Admin server cannot be established"
is this a known problem? thanks for your help

are you using SU05A on the XP machine? If not you should be.

i dont think so ... but it has been working alright this long
it is the 1.07 client software machine that is on Win XP - the CP server is still NT4.0 ...

I have the same problem. I had CallPilot 1.07 working fine on a machine running Win XP Service Pack1. But then I got a new machine on my desk running Winxp Service Pack2 and I have loaded Callpilot but it refuses to work. I get the same message. Its something to do with Service Pack 2.

I found the solution in another Tek-Tips Forum. It was posted by Andy.

Simply install this registry key to alter you RPC settings.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC]
"RestrictRemoteClients"=dword:00000000

It works perfectly.

not being a computer guy, I was wondering if someone could be a little more detailed on how and where to install this key????

i had installed in another PC and it worked ...let me check this registry setting

xnortel - under command prompt type
regedit and follow the path given by demusrasta and look for the key.

careful while doing this - as there is no UI protection
