I am setting up a cover path for a group of extensions. there is a dummy number used as an extension for a group of extensions, with a cover path that feeds callers around a list of 5 cover points.I then need the final cover point to go to the voicemail of cover point 1.

Point1: 3685 Point2: 3644 Point3: 3647
Point4: 3687 Point5: 3726 Point6: vmail of 3685

I have tried setting up point 6 as a vdn routing to 3685 but the call never routes to vmail but just rings on the extension. Can anyone advise how i can get this to route to vmail of point 6

Which voicemail system?
If it has the ability to have multiple extensions handled by one Mailbox then try setting point 6 in coverage path to a phantom station which is fwd all calls to VM. Set this phantom extn as an extra extn for MBox 3685

The definity isn't my strong point, but thatas how I would handle that...

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Sorry should have said AUDIX is the vmail system.

Thanks for your input Matt I'll have a look at that.

If you are using audix, you should have a hunt group set up and the coverage point would be the hunt group number, not an extension number.

Thanks Bobg1

Hunt group 98 has been setup for Audix. But can you advise how i get cover point 6 hu98 to route calls to the mailbox of station 3685 not the originating dummy number?

Go into audix and go to change auto attendant routing table.

Enter the dummy extension digits there and the actual mailbox you want calls routed into in the other columns. Yyou may also have to establish a business schedule, but chances are you can use the default "bus1". This will translate the incoming ID for you. IF your not sure how to go about it, email me at the address below & I'll send you a an excel sheet with an example. Paul Beddows

Paul you are a star!! Thanks for your help mate. worked a treat!

Your very welcome. By the way, I also use this same trick to get calls to personal CO lines into the mailbox for the set they appear on. You simply enter the TAC of the Personal CO line into the auto attendant routing schedule as the incoming digits and the extension of the set they appear on as the destination. For this reason I always use TAC's the same length as my extensions. Paul Beddows

If you have a vectoring, just point a VDN to a vector with a messaging step. you can specify what subscriber the call should route to...

That way you're not muddling with the routing tables.

sjforcum, I am interested in using the vectoring with a messaging step, what steps should I use to point to the subscriber without following the subcribers cover path and not ring their phone? Thanks..

In Intuity you can also setup the dummy number as a secondary extension on the number you wish voice mails to go to, easy as pie.

maxg, Ive tried using the secondary extension in the subcriber screen, this only accepts fax calls and no voicecalls and messages, is there a way to change this so that it also accepts voice messages. Tried this on Intuity Audix, Definity Audix and Intuity LX without luck. Thks.

Using a vector works OK, but in most switches you may only have 4, 10 or 15 to play with depending on release. In most cases I've come across they are precious real estate. Paul Beddows

Whoops forgot to answer the question above.

You use "messaging split (or skill) X for extension XXXX" where X is the hunt group for the voicemail and XXXX is the mailbox you want the message to go into.. Paul Beddows

phoneguy: I don't have fax messaging turned on so I can't test this but I would guess that if you turn off Fax in the permissions field on the second page of the subscriber form then the secondary extension would function as a call-answer. What I do know, with fax messaging not enabled and, obviously, that field set to no, a secondary extension will allow voice mail to be left in the principal's mailbox.

Thank-you guys, when I turn off fax creation, call-answer answered the call and a voice message could be left. Now I have 3 ways of accomplishing the same task where before I had none. Once again Thks for all your help!
