I am setting up a VPN from:
Client
Windows XP
dynamic IP
ADSL
to:
Server
Windows 2000 server
static IP
ADSL
My questions are:
1) Which is the best option: to buy a draytek router for the NAT, or achieve this through RRAS in windows 2000. What benefit would I get by buying a physical router?
2) Would a Draytek router easily deal with DHCP and DNS setup on my network?
3) Which Draytek router is best to go for, for this type of setup (eg. 2500, 2600 etc..)?
4) When I setup this VPN on the client, how do they intiate a VPN connection, is it as follows:
- type in IP to connect to
- windows authentication shows in session screen
- login using their domain user name and password
- their roaming profile loads up in the session
Sorry for the simple questions but I want to make sure that I understand the differences between all the different options before I start to implement.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dan
