Hello All,

Can anyone tell me why COUNT would work correctly in a program when run from the Project Manager but give only 0's when compiled?

Thank you :)

There are no documented reasons why the code would run differently - assuming you are using the same data. What version and service pack of VFP are you using?

I'm using VFP 7.0 SP1 version 07.00.0000.9465

I have resolved the issue with some members help. The problem was I need to use UPPER(ALLTRIM(variable)) on each side of the count with a == in the middle :)

Just to reiterate, in an example like this you must ensure your environment settings are the same for the runtime environment as they are in your developement environment. In other words, settings like EXCLUSIVE, ASCII, EXACT and so on need to be set in your executable.
One of the easiest ways to do this, is to go to Tools->Options. When the dialog comes up, hold down the {Ctrl} and {Enter} keys, then click 'OK'. This will put all your current configuration settings in the command window. From there, you can cut and paste the ones you want to use into your app's start up area.
This will work for VFP 6 and VFP 7, but I don't have any other versions installed to test.
