Just thought people might want to know this but corel linux has a autodetect feature that sets up most hardware really well,

just load into console from the lilo menu(boot screen) give the root password then type "detect probe" this probes all hardware in the machine and sets the modules to load on reboot!
If you have a serial mouse not ps2 and you find you can not use the mouse in X windows (KDE) then do this and reboot and hey presto your mousde is there again. I only found this out after many hours of messin around manualy configuring the X windows config file and that for ages. now I know what to do and it works every time!
Simon Jones
sijones_uk@yahoo.com
<a href= Allandale Youth Works
God am good!!! and good lookin :)

Also....be watching closely for the next Corel Linux release...it will be integrating GraphOn software to allow transparent running of Windows applications (complete with undocumented API calls working) using an NT server :)
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net
SearchMaster Interface...11-in-1
Wanting to learn Assembler; please e-mail me any tutorials or links for it that are useful to you :)

That thing about GraphOn, the only way they could do that is if they are a part of Microsoft's WISE program (unless they've made some major breakthroughs with WINE), which allows a company to buy the source code to Windows (not to modify) so that it can create a library or some sort of binary compatibility. This would be great, but be rest assured, it probably won't be a part of the download version. This is definitely what Linux needs to grow in the market place.
REH
hawkdogg@crosswinds.net
<a href= by Linux
Learn Linux and Leave out the Windows :)

Isn't Corel a major contributor to WINE? As I understand it, they're putting the money into WINE so that they can be first on the block with an up to date Linux distro that will run xx% of Win32 apps.

I've also heard about GraphOn being integrated into the distribution. I'm not overly familiar with their product, but from what I've heard, GraphOn plus an improved WINE will make for a most interesting combination. I might finally be able to migrate my work PC to Linux if it all works well. (Got to use Windows at the moment because the main app we use in our department isn't available for Linux or Unix, and doesn't run too well (to be kind ;^) under WINE.)

Even better news is the recent Borland/Corel news. If they can also get a working, usable, version of Kylix (Delphi version) out soon then I'll be knocking their doors off the hinges as I rush in to grab a copy! :)
