We have some remote buildings whose only connection is fiber and we're using 9620 VOIP sets in them. I've gotten a request for a cordless set. I've got site where we've tried a couple of Avaya 3631's with poor results. Can anyone suggets any other compatible alternatives?

IPdect is a good alternative.
I have never seen a VoWiFi solution work well to be honest.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I got a chance to look at Avaya IP DECT and it looks like I would need to put in Avaya Access Points to implement it. That would be overkill and too expensive.

I don't need to be able to roam all over a building. All I really need is the equivalent of an old fashioned cordless phone with a 75' or so range whose base station plugs into my LAN instead of a phone port.

Does Avaya have such a thing as a VOIP box that produces old fashioned dialtone I could connect of std. cordless phone to?

What you are describing is an Analog Terminal Adapter (ATA) which converts from IP to analog. Avaya does not make/sell such a device. There are IP-based ATAs from other companies which are compatible with Avaya Aura. Have a look at for tested solutions.
