Copying roaming profiles 1

I have created a roaming profile for a user my adding the user on the server and specifying a path for a roaming profile. On the user's first login on a client computer, the profile is created on the server.

How can I quickly copy the profile for another user? I would like to copy the start menu, quicklaunch bar, desktop settings, and mapped drives.

Step-by-step instructions would be great.

If I have understood you correctly the following may help

1. login script needed to map your drives (this goes in the netlogon area)

2. for profile, configure a pc with all the options, look etc that you want. Copy this profile to the pcs default profile (ie overwriting it)

3. then copy this profile to one of your Domain controllers netlogon share ie c:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\"domainname"\scripts (ie default profile). Ensure replication has taken place

when users first logon their profile will come from this area and not from their local pc default profile. All pcs will have the same look and shortcuts to apps. (bear in mind that the apps actually have to be on each pc in the first place to work). if users make changes to their pc it will be saved to their roaming profile area (if their account i configured for this)

immacola, are there other settings that have to be changed to make the default profile work from the sysvol/scripts directory? are you saying that all I have to do is drop a "default" profile into that location and it will automatically be used by everyone logging on to the domain as the default profile?

Before copying is done the “Permitted to use” is changed to "domain"\domain users (using system applet)
This ensures the correct permissions are written to the “default user” folder on the domain
