Using CR10 and has a problem copying and pasting layout from one report to another.
I have a report[Report1] that has a layout with so many lines and boxes in a group.

I am trying to copy the same layout to a new report[Report2] group section. But i am not able to.

Then i tried to move all the boxes and lines into details of report 1 and did a copy and paste in report 2 group section. It worked, but only once. I am trying to copy another layout from a different report [Report3 same layout] into group 2 of report 2,and i am not able to.
Basically i am trying to merge two differetn reports into one report as seperate groups.

I am not sure where the problem is. Did anyone face similar issue with copying boxes/lines from report to report?

If so, do you have any pointers that i can use?

Thanks,

Yeah, boxes and lines are trickier to copy, but it does work.

I tend to use the Ctrl->Left mouse click to select each object individually because in older versions the laso technique was funky, then I use Ctrl-C to copy the objects. Afterwards the pasting can be tricky because the first object selected is the one that will be demonstrated at paste time (I use Ctrl-V).

Not sure what it worked but only once means, I'm in CR XI and I can paste the same objects multiple times once they're copied.

Here's some generic reading:

Anyway, hope this is of some use.

I was using "select all section objects" option to select all boxes/lines/formuals etc..and when i go to other report and say ctrl -v, nothing hapens. It doesn't paste anything. Sometimes, it pastes my previous selection [i might have copy/paste'd a formula or heading before this selection] and it get's displayed again. I tried several times and could not get it done.

When i said worked only once, I meant, I tried to copy same layout [with less boxes] from report 1 and pasted in report 2 successfully. but if i repeat same with layout [more boxes] in report 3 and trying to copy it in report 1, it doesn't copy. I am not sure if "more boxes" is the key here..

Thanks for the link. I'll go thru and see if i can use anything from that.

Yuo can't copy and paste all section objects, you need to copy and paste like types of objects.

Did you bother to try usuing the Ctrl-Left MOyuse click to highlight multiple objects? You seemed to have ignored my suggestion, the whitepaper has little of interest beyond what I offered.

Anyway, it works fine here, I would guess that you need to copy like objects (lines and boxes work) using my method PRIOR to posting again.

Yup, I tried that [Ctrl-Left Mouse Click] and selected multipled objects. It was working . What I was trying is, since i have a lot [A LOT] of objects like this , Copy and paste whole Box using "Select all section objects"
[with lots of small boxes and lines and some headings] into a report group section. This new report has nothing , just a plain report. So I guess, i did not understand clearly ,when you say "like Objects".

Thanks.

Yeah, you have to stick with like object types, I know, it's a bloody nuisance.

You can also lasso like objects and it will work, not always an easy thing but it will get you started for groups of like objects near each other (without other types involved in the lasso of course).
