I am trying to backup a PDC. I tried to use backup from xp and this worked pretty well except it skipped files in use. Is there a product, or a way that I can backup and restore the system without shutting down NT4. I do not want to boot this server with ghost. I do not have all of the drivers for the server if something goes wrong. I cannot do a fresh install because the software is very specialized and we do not know how to install. (symix)

I was able to restore over a clean install of NT 4 on another box. Machine boots fine, but I am missing a couple of files that were in use by the system.

Thanks
Ted

arcserve and backup exec
have open file agents

cant you just identify the files and find out what has them open then copy them

I can identify the files, but I get a sharing violation error when I try to copy them. This is why I need a shadow backup, or something lik that for NT 4
