I am moving some PC's from a workgroup to a domain and when doing so it creates a new profile which drive us crazy. I am trying to copy the profile by right clicking on my computer and going to advanced tab and then user profiles. When I click on the profile I want to copy, the copy button is grayed out, It is not the account that I am currently logged into nor is it the administrator account.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What type of account are you logged on with when you attempt to copy the profile? What is the account type for the profile you are attemtping to copy? One guess is that you are logged on with insufficient privileges to perform that task.

I'd take an in-depth look at the account from which I was attempting the profile copy. Make a note of any group(s) to which the account belongs. If your account is a member of the "domain users" group, then you may not possess the privilege for that task.

It could also be for some other reason entirely. Post further information and perhaps we can get those profiles to copy.

P.S. - Here's an off-topic freebie:
You may already be doing this, but I'll
mention it as a "just in case" type of thing.
Make sure to disable the local user account
once you fully migrate the user to a domain
account. If you fail to do this, some of your
users may inadvertently or intentionally revert
back to their local user accounts. This can
create a potentially enormous workload for
admins, as they are forced to schedule and
perform repeated profile copies for each problem
user. This type of thing would likely continue
to occur indefinitely. This type of situation
will also hose any domain logon scripts for the
same problem users. There are also numerous
other implications. So, fair warning.
