Copy and Paste to Excel

In 2k an Access tbl/qry can be copied and pasted into Excel and numbers are numbers. In XP copy from a Access table or query and paste into a spredsheet and Numbers become text - is this a bug.

 
Use the Export menu option to convert from Access to Excel on XP.
 
That's fine if you need a whole table or want to write a new query. But for a bit of ad hoc data anlysis I do like to copy and paste.
