Converting .PS to .EPS

Hi,

I'm trying to convert an .ps file (with text and graphics) to a .eps file. The only problem is that I've got to keep the file in it's original state.

I've tried putting it thru a 3rd party piece of software but it creates the whole document as a flat image not keeping the each element seperate.

Any help would be great.

May I ask why?

In other words, what is the differece between a PS and an EPS, in your mind?

An EPS is just a type of PostScript program, only with a strict structure, and comments added.

My point is, I don't think making such minor changes would caue a different outcome. The problem is likely with your 3rd party software, and making minor changes to your PostScript code won't make any difference.

If you want to TEST it though, you can simply use Acrobat to

1) Distill the PostScript into PDF
3) Export the PDF as EPS

Ok, I can change the Postscript to a PDF but how do I export this to an EPS File?

That depends on what software you're using. Most Adobe applications will let you open a PDF and "Save As" an EPS. I recommend using Acrobat.

If you don't have Acrobat, I will convert the file for you and email it back, just so you have something to test. Again, I don't think PS vs. EPS will make a difference in your workflow.
