Hi All!
I'm pretty new to all the functions in dreamweaver - but I did recently discover layers - I thought I had found a match made in heaven, but had been advised due to browsers to be sure to convert layers to tables - once I do that it screws up my page - It seems to keep my top graphic and side navigation bar relevent to one another, but all my text and photos which are in the center of the page are pushed up on top of EVERYTHING!!! If anyone has any suggestions please help!

You cannot have nested layers or overlapping layers if you want to convert to tables. What is your viewer demographic? In many cases it may not be necessary to convert from layers to tables. Test your layer design in the browsers you want it to work in. Keep in mind that Netscape Navigator doesn't support absolute postioning and some design elements will shift a bit.

At present, a properly done table site will be compatible with more (not all) users (browsers). However, I write most of my sites in layers. Depends on the situation.
Peace

Hi,
Thanks for the speedy reply - I figured out what I was doing to cause my problem - I had started in tables, then started using layers - once I converted my tables to layers, then converted ALL of them back to tables it works fine - But I'm glad to see that someone that makes such great sites also uses layers!
