Converting from .fp7 to fp.5 format URGENT!!!

Hi all,

I desperately need to know the procedure of how to either convert or save from a filemaker pro 7 file to a filemaker pro 5 format to be used on another system. Can it be done??? I really hope it can!!! But how???

Well Stephen - certainly you easily export the data from FMP7 files to FMP5 files but AFAIK no-one has yet written a plugin to convert the FMP7 file structure (i.e. retaining the fields, layouts, relationships etc).

Maybe export to XL and import data into FM 5 file...
This will 'save' the data but not the fielddefinitions etc...

New Millenium Communications makes a product called MDM that will allow you to analyze the FM7 solution, you could have that open while creating all the same fields/files in FM5. Then export/import data. It's the only way that I know to do this, as others pointed out, there's no backwards auto-migration solution in FM7 or via third parties. Care to tell us a bit about why the move back in version?
