Convert MDE Database back

Is there an easy way to de-convert an MDE database back to MDB. What I have found is that it's difficult to add new reports and forms to that MDE database. But I have a lot of data on the MDE database that I do not want to loose. Help please. Thanks in advance Travis.

No can do, it's not possible to go back. You'll have to make changes in the .MDB, import the data from the .MDE and then make the .MDB into a .MDE again.

In addition to Joe's painfull but TRUE information, you may want to conSider putting your data in another (BackEnd) database and link it. This way you won't have this problem in the future. If someone is using the database, I'm willing to bet it's gonna change again. It is the nature of the beast.

Is there a quick and easy way to import all tables into the MDB database. I could not find a quick way, without doing table for table.


Once I have split out the tables to one database, and queries, forms, reports, and macros into a second database. Does that then allow me to change any of the queries, forms, reports and macros from the second MDB, which should then allow me to just replace the current MDE with the new MDE, Correct? (without dealing with the data tables)

You have got the jest of it. The backend is for data. Your forms, queries, reports, modules are in the FrontEnd (MDE). You will make changes in your Design Master .mdb and create a new mde to implement your changes. It preserves your design of any code in your forms as well as converting your code to "P Code" which allows it to execute much faster.
There may be tables of data that must remain local to your front end (mde) such as switchboard tables and some others but not your main data. You can create your blank backend database, import the tables from your mde, link the tables in the front to the back. Hope this helps. You are on the right track.
