convert jfs to jfs2.

You cannot convert JFS to JFS2.
And how do you have a 5L certification without knowing that?

It is infeasible to convert from jfs to jfs2.But
in aix5l 5.1 installation you can opt for jfs2 enable apart from tcb(trusted computing base)

You need to have a 64bit kernel. See ibm webpage
My rootvg is set to JFS and I want to move to JFS2. How can I do this?
Create a mksysb and then restore rootvg with JFS2. The only requirement to use JFS2 on rootvg is that the machine be running the 64-bit kernel.

Moving forward to answer your question: Please perform
following steps:
If you have already file systems with data
step1:Backup the specific jfs file system by using any backup utility
step2 :create jfs2 type file systems correspondingly
step3: restore the data to jfs2 file systems by using backups taken earlier

My opinion is that you need to setup kernel to 64 bits instead of 32bits, because JFS2 (enhanced journaled file system) is a file system, introduced in AIX 5L for POWER Version 5.1, that provides the capability to store much larger files than the existing Journaled File System (JFS). Customers can choose to implement either JFS, which is the recommended file system for 32-bit environments, or JFS2, which offers 64-bit functionality.

Am planning to do as
1. change kernel 32bit -->64bit
2. reboot
3. run mkszfile
4. edit image.data file and change fstype: jfs to jfs2
5. mksysb backup using existing image.data file
6. finally restore mksysb
any advice/info. By the way anyone had done before in this way. Share your experiences if any.

Actually IBM recomends you do not convert rootvg filesystems to jfs2, as well as to use the 64 bit kernel before using jfs2 anyway.
