Depends on what you are trying to translate. There is no way to automatically translate the DATA of the report. You can translate the static text portions of the report but that is a manual step (editing each text object). If you have to do this frequently there is one tool that I know of that will remember the translations you did and make it easier to redo them. See the links page on my web site under "Other Utilities".

Sorry if this sounds facetious, but basically you need to find someone who speaks both English and French (not necessarily fluently). Get that person to look at the report, and tell you the French equivalents for each piece of English text. Then edit the report so that the French shows in place of the English.

If you are looking for an automatic way of doing the translation, forget it. You could try using a tool like BabelFish, but I doubt very much that you will be happy with the result.

I worked on a project where the same reports were translated into multiple languages. First set up a parameter for your language code. Next set up a parameter for your format code if you are going to format the numbers in the report in a french style using , for decimal point and . for 1000's separator. In your titles reference the language parameter. If ?lang = F then "French Title" else if lang = E then "English Title". If your masterdata is in multiple languages, you may be able to use the language parameter to select the language.

Greetings!

With thousand of Crystral Reports, here is how its treated at our place of work:

"The Language Parameter"

BeforeReadingRecords;
If UpperCase({?English/French}) In["ENGLISH", "ANGLAIS"] Then
"English"
Else
"français"

"And the formulas"

if {@ParmLanguage} = "English" then
"Relation : All"
else
"Lien : Tous";

Thanks
