Can someone please tell me how to convert a publisher document to .pdf
I was emailed a publisher document, but don't have publisher with which to open it.

I don't think there is a simple way to convert the publisher file to PDF without having Publisher to do it with. Normally, you would just print the publisher document to Acrobat PDFWriter...but that assumes that you have Publisher and Adobe Acrobat to start with.
There are a couple utilities that will convert MS Word documents to PDF, but I don't recall seeing any that will handle .PUB files.
Your best bet would be to ask the person that sent you the document to use their copy of Publisher to save it as a MS Word .DOC file or (if they have Adobe Acrobat) print it to a .PDF file before they send it to you. You may loose a little of the formatting in the conversion, but not a whole lot.

I have got publisher on my machine and also Adobe Acrobat and need to do the same so I can put the publisher document onto a web page as a download.
However when I try to print the .pub to Acrobat Writer I get the following error message:
mspaint.exe Application error
The instruction at 0x77fcb9ae referenced memory at 0x000000000. The memory could not be written
Click ok to terminate
Any ideas how to resolve this one?

Sounds like you've got some errors in the file associations if MS Paint is trying to run. First thing I would do is look at the list of file extensions and what programs run them, particularly the PDF files. To look (and change associations) open My Computer and click on the Tools drop down menu, then click on Folder Options and File Types. This should give you a list of all the file extensions and what program is linked to them. If MS Paint is associated with PDF files it needs to be changed to Adobe Acrobat Document.

Thanks for the help algraff,

It turned out that when we bought Adobe we installed on the server and shared the printer writer and distiller over the network. I was selecting these printers instead of the ones installed when I installed Adobe on my PC.
Once I selected the correct printer it worked fine

Thanks anyway

I am now also experiencing the same memory could not be written problem when trying to open mspaint.exe(bitmap). I can not recall what I have done to cause it. Any idea how to fix it? It seems I have dissociated all the file extension with this program but it still doesn't work. By the way, the program works fine if I log in as another user. (I use win2000)

Another solution for you: Go to and look around for their on-line converstion package. You get like 5 free conversions just for sigining up. You just send the file using their links, tell them what you want back and wait for it to come around in a few minutes. Works great.

I hope this is the right forum to ask... but does anyone here also use MailShop print? We are having problems with our PDFs.
