I have a big .xls file with a column like this:

20.10,20

I must convert in 20.10.20
The problem is with Format I get an error message that the type of the field is data so I must correct it.
With Replace, the field is converted in 34715 or something.
I've tried to convert the column in text or general but nothing worked. The version is Office 2003.

Can someone help me ?

Thanks

Make sure to format the column to text before doing the find/replace.

34715 is a date (Jan 16, 1995). Apparently when you replaced the comma with a period Excel tried to be 'helpful' and assumed you were entering a date.

I have an option to avoid this "help" ?

Did formatting the column at TEXT before the Find/Replace not do it for you?
