Controlling Windows Font Substitution

How can I control Windows font substitution? Is there anyway to know when Windows has substituted a font? I had a problem with a report dealing with a missing OCR font. I would rather the report had printed nothing instead! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After creating the font (CreateFont or CreateFontIndirect unction) and selecting it into the DC (SelectObject), you can find out the font name by calling GetTextFace and/or it's metrics by calling GetTextMetrics.
