Hi all,

Not sure where this one sits really but here goes.

My office in a business centre got broken into recently (no alarms went off huh ?)so I want to develop a card security system which permits/tracks entrance and egress to/from the building.

Access can obviously handle the data side of this, but can I get it to send the valid signal which enables the door lock to open if a valid card is swiped ?

Many thanks for any replies

Access can run VB code. This includes calling external functions, and sending messages over TCP/IP networks, and sending a message to some (local to the machine) hardware device.

But this is crazy. Sure it's possible--but anything's possible, given that tidbit of information. Access can be used with barcode readers in a POS-style environment, so theoretically an electronic doorlock/cardscanner wouldn't be that different.

Good luck.
