I don't know Outlook 2000 - but a couple of Outlook 98 suggestions ...
- Has he checked Deleted Items?
- Has he tried 'Tools\Recover Deleted Items' from within the Delete Items folder?
- There is a registry edit that will enable the Recover Deleted Items command from folders other than the Deleted Items folder. This allows you to retrieve items hard deleted (ie shift deleted) from folders. I've only used it with Outlook 98 however - not sure if it is relevant to Outlook 2000
To enable Deleted Item Recovery on mail folders other than Deleted Items (such as Sent Items, Drafts, Outbox, and Inbox), the following registry entry needs to be made:
Add the DWORD value DumpsterAlwaysOn=1 to the following registry key of the administrator's Outlook client:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options
Once this is added, the Recover Deleted Items command will be available from the Tools menu in any Outlook folder.
I've used it to recover many a staff member's accidentally shift deleted inbox.
I don't know, maybe it will help.
Good luck
