Docs say that ContactStore is not supported on Server 2012 - only 2008, which is ridiculous. Is it true or is there hopefully an updated spec sheet that I haven't seen yet?

Yeah, we've decided that ContactStore under windows is going to be a dead end. I don't think it's supported in R10 at all.
Going with an application server instead.
