Hi there, can you please tell me why there is a contact folder and an address book in Outlook. I know when you enter in one place it enters in the other, so why do we need two. Also, I have a client that has multible records in the address book but they are not showing up in the contact folder. Can anyone give me an over all explanation of how they work together and the differences in funtion. Thank you Dawn

See here for more info, but you've alerted me to the fact that I never wrote about address books:

Now. Home users have contacts and address book. Both are virtually the same. However, contacts does not have *distribution lists* and address books do. At a company (on an exchange server), the contacts are *generally* the Company's GLOBAL address list, not the individual's addresses. The individuals can store addresses in--yep--their personal address book.

I suspect your client is on an exchange server and you are not.

:)

I am not positive, dawn. Without going through my address book and contacts LOL

You've got the instructions to find out if she's running CWO or IMO, so check it out. There are also ways to copy from the address book to contacts. Basically, anyone using distribution lists WILL have something in their address book. Also, they *could* be connected to an exchange server if they're dialing into one. Also, you can go to the Tools menu. If it says Services, she set up with an exchange server or has the wrong setup. It's tough to have the wrong setup and still be able to get all your mail, tho.
